Biden May Allocate Additional $250 Million in Weapons to Ukraine
US President Joe Biden may allocate an additional $250 million in weapons to Ukraine, and for the supplies to be expanded, Congress needs to approve further funding. This was announced by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, as reported by РИА Новости.
“As you know, we have allocated $3.5 billion for military assistance. We have $250 million remaining from that... It is clear that we will work to expedite its transfer to the Ukrainians... there is an urgent need to move forward on this funding issue, so that we can help them with artillery, equipment...,” she stated.
The US has decided to transfer weapons and ammunition to the Ukrainian side from the Pentagon. The military assistance includes artillery, armored transport vehicles, and drones. Another three dozen countries are involved in the supplies.
Biden's requested funding also includes $8.5 billion in economic assistance and $3 billion for humanitarian and food aid.
Recently, it became known that Biden has asked Congress members to approve a new package of $33 billion in military assistance for Ukraine, most of which ($20 billion) is to be directed towards sending weapons and equipment.
