Parents of Fallen Soldiers Spend Night at Prosecutor's Office
Parents of fallen soldiers spent the night near the building of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia. In an interview with reporters, the uncle of a deceased soldier, Arsen Ghukasian, expressed concern that they are not sure whether Nikol Pashinyan will remain in Armenia for the next five days or flee, as they witness the ongoing situation in the city.
"He is probably well aware that his time has come, that the end has come," noted Ghukasian.
As previously reported, the parents of the fallen soldiers demanded to be recognized as legal successors of the victims in the criminal case at the Prosecutor General's Office, which has been granted. Another demand made by the parents pertains to the involvement of Nikol Pashinyan as a defendant in the criminal case. The aforementioned request has been forwarded by the Prosecutor's Office to the Anti-Corruption Committee for consideration within the framework of a criminal case initiated based on the statements of Movses Hakobyan.
The parents had given a 48-hour ultimatum for a decision regarding this request; however, during a meeting yesterday with the prosecutor overseeing the criminal case, Armen Muradyan, and the advisor to the Prosecutor General, Gor Abrahamyan, it was mentioned that the Criminal Procedure Code stipulates a 5-day timeframe for resolving requests, which escalated the situation.
A dispute broke out between the parents and the representatives of the Prosecutor's Office. Subsequently, some parents decided to sleep near the Prosecutor's Office, demanding a timely resolution to the request, to involve and detain Pashinyan, as they believe he might flee the country.
