The West Did Not Achieve Its Goals: Putin Shares Details

The West sought to transfer the problems of the past to the present and aimed to corner Russia, but they did not achieve their goals. They were extensively prepared for an economic war, said Russian President Vladimir Putin, as reported by RIA Novosti.

He noted that in the early 1990s and into the 2000s, Western countries encouraged international terrorists and bandits in the North Caucasus. “They exploited our past issues, genuinely problematic questions, the injustices of the past against entire nations, including the peoples of the Caucasus. But they did this not to make us better but to transfer the problems of the past into our present, to encourage separatist sentiments in our country, to divide and destroy it, and ultimately to push us into a so-called corner,” Putin stated.

According to him, many have attempted to act in this way towards Russia throughout history.
