Russia Cuts Off Gas Supply to Poland and Bulgaria
Russia has halted gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria on Wednesday due to their refusal to comply with payments in rubles. This was reported by Rg.ru.
The next payment deadlines from these countries, which were supposed to occur through Gazprombank with currency converted to rubles, were set to end by April 26. However, Gazprom has stated that it has not received any payments from Poland or Bulgaria according to the new rules.
As noted by the media, the new payment scheme came into effect on April 1. It was implemented by a decree from President Vladimir Putin, holds the force of law, and cannot be considered a violation of Gazprom's contractual obligations.
