Resident of Armavir Region Arrested for Murdering Wife's Parents

On April 22, a 44-year-old resident of the community of Metsamor in the Armavir region fired several shots at his wife's parents and brother during a domestic dispute using a smooth-bore hunting rifle, resulting in the deaths of the woman’s parents. The Investigative Committee of Armenia has provided further details.

“As part of the criminal case being investigated by the Armavir regional investigative department, investigative and procedural actions have revealed circumstances surrounding the murder of the wife’s parents by the 44-year-old resident of Armavir. As previously reported, on April 22, 2022, at around 00:05, this resident fired several shots from his registered 'MR-155' model hunting smooth-bore rifle at his wife's parents and brother with the intent to unlawfully deprive them of their lives during a domestic argument. As a result, the woman’s father died from his injuries, while her brother and mother were transported to the 'Armavir' Medical Center.

During the preliminary investigation, it was found that the 44-year-old man’s mother-in-law had also died the following day after never regaining consciousness in the medical center. Based on the collection of sufficient evidence, the 44-year-old resident of Armavir has been charged under the first part of Article 104, clause 2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. He has been placed in custody as a preventive measure. The investigation is ongoing,” the statement said.
