Kyiv will partially dismantle the monument to the friendship of the peoples of Russia and Ukraine. This was announced by the mayor of Ukraine's capital, Vitali Klitschko, according to Kp.ru.
“We are dismantling the bronze sculpture of two workers, which was installed in 1982 in memory of Ukraine's reunification with Russia. The so-called 'Friendship of Two Peoples' eight-meter monument will be removed from the center of Kyiv,” Klitschko wrote on Telegram.
According to him, the sculptures of the Russian and Ukrainian workers, which hold a ribbon with the badge of the Friendship of Peoples, will be dismantled within a week.
The mayor of Kyiv noted that the red granite composition will be temporarily covered and dismantled later, while the arch of the monument will be renamed and illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
