Erdogan: Biden's Recognition of the Armenian Genocide Means Nothing to Us

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan commented on U.S. President Joe Biden's statement regarding the Armenian Genocide on April 24th, during a televised address following a meeting of the Turkish government. This was reported by Rusarm.info.

According to the Turkish president, Biden's statements, which referred to the events in the Ottoman Empire in 1915 as genocide, are "far from historical facts and hold no significance for Turkey."

"The statements by the President of the United States contradict historical realities and are based on distorted and unreliable information, and they hold no significance for Ankara. Mr. Biden should properly study and know the history of the Armenians. We cannot forgive his attempt to challenge Turkey without knowing this history," Erdogan's words were quoted by Anadolu Agency.

The Turkish president stated that such remarks are unworthy of attention, as "they are based on absolutely false and unreliable information."

"Statements regarding the demands of Armenia, which have supposedly been recognized by various countries' governments and parliaments, hold no power for us," Erdogan said.

On April 24, 2022, U.S. President confirmed last year's recognition in his address, stating that the Armenian Genocide is one of the most horrific mass atrocities of the 20th century.
