I Do Not Comment on Photos: Marukyan on Cavusoglu's Gesture of the 'Grey Wolves'
The Armenian Genocide has been recognized and condemned by many countries, but it is essential for Turkey to acknowledge it. We need to work with Turkey, and I see this work in the context of normalizing relations with Turkey. This was stated by Special Envoy Edmon Marukyan during a briefing with journalists in Tsitsernakaberd.
He noted that the societies of Armenia and Turkey need to communicate with each other. "It is possible to normalize relations with Turkey and open borders, depending on Turkey's sincerity. The Armenian side has never linked the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations to preconditions, and we expect that the Turkish side will also not link it to preconditions. At this moment, there are no preconditions; it has been officially stated that discussions will continue without preconditions. Right now, we have the statements of the foreign ministries of both countries, which contain nothing hostile, which serves as a basis for us. Everything else is secondary talk for us," said Marukyan.
In response to a question about how he would comment on the video in which Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu shows the gesture of the 'Grey Wolves' organization to representatives of the Armenian community, Marukyan replied: "I do not comment on photos; I comment on the statements of the foreign ministries."
