What the village mayor says about the man who killed his father-in-law and mother-in-law

The residents of Nalbandyan village in the Armavir region are still unaware of the reasons behind the son-in-law's actions, in which he has killed his father-in-law and mother-in-law, and injured his brother-in-law. This was stated by Grigor Mkrtchyan, the head of the Nalbandyan administrative district, in a conversation with NEWS.am.

"The entire village is in shock. Laert is a very calm and polite guy. We can’t understand why such a thing happened," noted the mayor.

He mentioned that both the families of the son-in-law and the wife are from the same village. The son-in-law's parents were teachers at the school—his father taught physics and his mother taught mathematics. He himself had a grocery store in his backyard, and his wife also worked in that store.

"The wife's parents were also very calm and good people. The father was a construction worker, and the mother was a teacher. The relationship between the son-in-law and the wife's family was good. Even when the father-in-law was engaged in construction work in Russia, he would send money under the son's name, which he would then hand over to his wife's family," said Mkrtchyan.

The wife's brother is also engaged in livestock farming and has three sons.

On the day of the incident, the neighbors did not hear any sounds of argument and only went out of their houses upon hearing gunshots. "At that moment, we didn’t even understand what was happening. We were quickly helping to transport the injured to the ambulance. For me, all this is very surprising. I only remember once that there was a noisy argument in Laert's family with his wife; it was about a year ago, but it got resolved very quickly," emphasized Grigor Mkrtchyan.

It is worth mentioning that earlier information had spread that 44-year-old Laert Harutyunyan, a resident of Nalbandyan village in the Metsamor community, had argued over domestic issues in the yard of the house of his father-in-law, 69-year-old Edik Martirosyan, with Edik Martirosyan and his son, 41-year-old Aram Martirosyan, during which, according to preliminary information, insults were directed at L. Harutyunyan (which is being clarified by the investigative department), following which L. Harutyunyan fired shots at A. and E. Martirosyan, as well as at E. Martirosyan's wife, 72-year-old Sirvard Harutyunyan, a resident of Nalbandyan village.
