Explosion at Ore Mine in Orenburg Region Leaves Casualties

An explosion occurred at a depth of 1.2 kilometers in the Gaysky Mining and Processing Plant (GOK) in the Orenburg region. As a result, three people have died, reported the regional prosecutor's office on Saturday.

According to preliminary data, the incident took place around 08:50 local time during extraction and blasting operations. A sudden explosion of explosives led to the evacuation of 88 workers, with three fatalities confirmed.

The agency clarified that Prosecutor Ruslan Medvedev has instructed an investigation into the incident to determine its causes and conditions.

The company’s press service informed TASS that there were no external injuries discovered on the bodies of the deceased. “On April 23, at 08:30 Moscow time (06:30 local time), the bodies of three underground mine workers were found at a depth of 1205 meters. The bodies show no external injuries,” stated the company.
