Azerbaijan Plans to Build a 'Smart Village' in Occupied Varanda

In the Armenian region of Varanda, which has been occupied by Azerbaijan since 2020, plans are underway to construct what is referred to as a 'smart village.' This was announced by Emin Huseynov, the special representative of President Ilham Aliyev for the seized territories of Artsakh, according to Azerbaijani sources.

He noted that the village to be built in the occupied Varanda will consist of around 1,500 houses. A tender will be announced for the implementation of the project.

It is worth mentioning that on February 18 of this year, the National Assembly of Artsakh unanimously adopted a law regarding the 'Seized Territories,' which prohibits, among other things, any activities by the occupying Azerbaijan in those areas—including construction, investment, and others—that contradict Artsakh's legislation. Therefore, any activities carried out in the territories occupied by Azerbaijan are considered illegal.
