The Prosecutor's Office is on Top, They Can't Roll a Barrel: Arthur Davtyan

The Chief Prosecutor of Armenia, Arthur Davtyan, dismissed media reports suggesting that there are conflicts between the Prosecutor's Office and other law enforcement agencies.

He stated that such claims of the Anti-Corruption Committee and the Investigative Committee being against the Prosecutor's Office and trying to undermine its position in the government are merely ridiculous discussions.

“The cooperation or communication between the Prosecutor's Office and other law enforcement agencies is clearly outlined by law. If someone's behavior or certain actions do not please someone, and they try to speak publicly about it, these are unnecessary conversations. Regarding rolling barrels, usually, they roll from top to bottom. The Prosecutor's Office is on top, therefore the barrels cannot roll upwards,” Davtyan said.

Commenting on the story regarding the sale of former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan's private residence and the ensuing disagreements between the Prosecutor's Office and the Anti-Corruption Committee, Arthur Davtyan said, “This is a legal process; there are hundreds of such cases that are not discussed. When the prosecutor gives instructions, the investigator presents objections, the supervising prosecutor resolves those objections, the investigator makes a decision, and the prosecutor annul that decision. These are legally prescribed natural processes.”
