What Are the Main Causes of Death Among Armenians?

In Armenia, half of all deaths are caused by cardiovascular diseases. This was stated by the country's chief cardiologist, Hamlet Hayrapetyan, during a two-day scientific and practical event titled "Dyslipidemia: Current Approaches to Diagnosis and Management" while speaking with journalists.

According to him, high concentrations of cholesterol in blood plasma are a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. “Dyslipidemia is a disorder of lipid metabolism. Such conferences help our specialists better understand the identification, prevention, and modern treatment approaches to this issue,” he said.

Deputy Minister of Health Armen Nazaryan mentioned in his remarks that a working group has been established on the prevention, detection, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases at the initiative of the ministry. “Thanks to the efforts of this group, we will be able to further emphasize the existing problems in the sector and find solutions that will enhance the quality of treatment and improve the health of our population,” added the deputy minister.
