VIDEO: The Document Signed on November 9 is Not a Document of Capitulation, Says Edmond Marukyan
The document signed on November 9 is not a document of capitulation, stated Edmond Marukyan, the president of the Bright Armenia party and special envoy, during the "Pressing" program on 168.am.
As a lawyer, he emphasized, "I say that the document signed on November 9 is not a document of capitulation." Marukyan noted that the November 9 document concerns a ceasefire and, whether we like it or not, has the significance of an international treaty; it has had an impact and has been utilized since it was signed.
Edmond Marukyan also pointed out that there is no crime in Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's speech in the National Assembly. "Can Nikol Pashinyan's speech in the parliament be viewed as a report of a crime? Absolutely not, because it was a political speech, an analysis of the past and an open discussion about the future. I myself have accused the Prime Minister that he should speak frankly with the people; I have said that the opposition in Armenia is accusing the Prime Minister of the wrong issue; they need to rephrase their accusation. They should have said, 'Brother, why did you not go for a peaceful resolution, for example, why did you not implement Lavrov's plan so that there would be no war... that accusation has certain legitimacy,'" he stated.
According to him, the previous government plays a fundamental role, stating that the negotiation package has two paths: either it goes for compromise, or war begins. "This government has been cornered by them, and they are also guilty for not saying, 'Brother, let's help you, we are ready to help you, these lands need to be surrendered,'" he said.
