In Azerbaijan, the National Identity of Remains is Determined by 'Eyeballing'
In Azerbaijan, the national identity of remains is determined by 'eyeballing'. This was reported by News.am. The State Commission on the Issues of Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons of Azerbaijan has released a statement attempting to 'prove' the national identity of remains allegedly discovered near the recently occupied Armenian village of Parukh in Artsakh.
According to the statement, 'the examination of the remains proves that they are Azerbaijanis.' The commission claims, 'As a result of expert examinations conducted by specialists, it has been established that the tombstones and remains found at the height of Farukh belong to the Caucasian subspecies of the Europoid race. According to anthropological features, they belong to Azerbaijani Turks.'
The 'justifications' and 'evidences' provided below are pitiful and laughable. Earlier, the Armenian side had stated that these were remains of Armenians who inhabited the region in the early Middle Ages. As 'evidence', the Azerbaijani commission brings up the fact that, allegedly, there were no coffins in the early Middle Ages.
The commission finds the identification of the remains by 'eyeballing' acceptable. Even if we assume that people were actually killed, where are the proofs of their nationality? By presenting the remains as those of Azerbaijanis, Azerbaijan confirms that the sole purpose of 'discovering' the bodies is anti-Armenian propaganda and hatred towards Armenians.
