Fraudulent Charity Worker Steals from Stepanakert Residents via Facebook

Fraudulent Charity Worker Steals from Stepanakert Residents via Facebook

On April 20, based on operational information from the Artsakh Police Department for Economic and Corruption Crimes, a 31-year-old resident of Yerevan, identified as A.A., misrepresented himself as an employee of a 'charity organization providing aid to children in Artsakh' through the social media platform Facebook.

During December 2021, he deceitfully took funds from residents of Stepanakert without any intention of fulfilling the agreements made. By exploiting their trust, A.A. stole money under the pretext of delivering aids. Among the victims were A.A. (born 1980) who lost 7,600 AMD, D.A. (born 1986) who was defrauded of 15,000 AMD, A.H. (born 1978) who lost 7,600 AMD, and P.G. (born 1982) who was also robbed of 7,600 AMD, totaling 37,800 AMD.

The Artsakh Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that the funds were misappropriated by A.A. after being transferred by the victims, causing significant financial damage to them. The investigation is being conducted by the Artsakh Police Department for Economic and Corruption Crimes.
