Attacks on Russian Properties and Stores in Germany: Russians Face Violence

In Berlin, more than 200 cases are under investigation related to crimes committed against Russian-speaking individuals. This was reported by the Tagesspiegel publication, citing a police representative.

The State Security Department has been handling a total of 206 related cases since February 24. These involve insults, threats, property damage, and, in some instances, acts of violence.

Furthermore, by early April, five investigations have been launched regarding the public display of the Z symbol, which is perceived in Germany as support for Russia's military actions in Ukraine.

In Germany, an assessment is being conducted regarding potentially punishable crimes with anti-Russian and pro-Ukrainian motives; the number of such incidents from February 24 to March 31 falls within the "mid-three-digit range," as earlier stated in response to parliamentary inquiries from the Bundestag faction "Alternative for Germany." Meanwhile, authorities have previously rejected accusations of Russian phobia raised by participants in several protests held in Germany in April.

In early April, Germany's Interior Minister Nancy Faeser announced facts regarding attacks on Russian properties and stores linked to the events in Ukraine. At the end of March, Holger Münch, the head of the Federal Criminal Police Office, stated that at least 200 crimes against Russian-speaking citizens in Germany have been recorded weekly, ranging from insults and threats to physical violence and property damage, according to RIA Novosti.
