Who are the Young Men on Hunger Strike in Freedom Square and What Do They Want: Ani Kaghinyan Explains

Civil activist Ani Kaghinyan writes on her Facebook page: "These young men have gone on a hunger strike in Freedom Square. Both of them served in the Armenian army and participated in the 44-day war; one as an officer and the other as a private. They have gone through the hell of war and returned. Both have excellent education and are currently working in the IT sector, earning quite high salaries.

Now many of you might wonder why these young men have chosen to go on a hunger strike. Yesterday, I had a long conversation with them, and their goal is to awaken their fellow professionals and youth in the IT sector. They believe that young people in the IT field represent the middle class that needs to have a specific voice and role in addressing the current crisis in our country, emphasizing that the homeland is of paramount value and that everyone must participate in solving emerging issues.

They will halt their hunger strike if a significant number of IT professionals rally around them and engage in the resolution of the existing problems in the Republic and Artsakh. Dear young professionals in the IT sector, please approach and speak with these young men, share your opinions. Let’s hope they can end their hunger strike soon to preserve their health; we have lost many already from the war."
