I Came to Greet Vanetsyan: Former Tax Committee Minister in Freedom Square

After the reopening of the Armenia-Turkey border, low-cost Turkish products will flood the Armenian market, making Armenia just another market for Turkish goods. This opinion was expressed by Davit Ananyan, former president of the State Revenue Committee, during a press conference with journalists in Freedom Square.

It should be noted that he visited Freedom Square to greet Arthur Vanetsyan, the leader of the 'I Have Honor' faction, and to express his support.

On April 17, Vanetsyan addressed citizens via Facebook Live from Freedom Square, calling on them to unite and fight for Armenia, Artsakh, and the Armenian identity.

'If those who direct the country’s economic policy see that we should build an export-oriented country, then the opening of the Armenia-Turkey border will not only not help but will also destroy our economy. And if the future of our country is viewed solely through trade exchanges, then the border can be opened, but in that case, we must forget about having national production and industry,' Ananyan stated.

According to him, Armenia will become economically dependent on Turkey, as Turkey can easily manage the external trade sector. Ananyan noted that Armenia is not strong enough to control the sales of Turkish products in our country, thus it will be Turkey that will hold that control.
