Police Prevent Young Woman's Suicide Attempt

On April 16, an alarming incident occurred in Yerevan. At around 15:00, Senior Police Officer Karen Khachatryan and Junior Officer Narek Avetisyan from the first battalion of the Yerevan Patrol Service were on duty near the Kiev Bridge when several citizens approached them, reporting that a young woman had crossed the dangerous edge of the bridge and was threatening to jump.

According to shamshyan.com, the senior and junior officers informed the battalion commander Aram Dadoyan about the situation. He instructed them to secure the area and attempt to negotiate with the young woman to prevent her from taking that drastic action until the operational teams from the Mashtots and Arabkir Police Departments arrived, as it was still unclear from which administrative area the young woman was attempting to jump.

Before the police arrived, the senior and junior officers, with the help of two citizens, managed to talk the young woman down and prevent her suicide attempt. They subsequently took her away from the dangerous section of the bridge and escorted her to the Mashtots Police Station.

Reports from the Mashtots Police Department's investigation division revealed that the individual was a resident of Yerevan named Lusine P., who stated that she had contemplated suicide by jumping from the bridge due to personal issues.
