NATO Ships Enter the Baltic Sea
The first ships of the permanent naval group have entered the Baltic Sea and will participate in exercises with neighboring allied countries and partner states. This was reported by the ERR broadcasting portal.
“A part of the NATO rapid response SNMG1 permanent naval group has entered the Baltic Sea. Other ships will arrive at the Tallinn port's old cruise terminal on Friday. The priority task is to demonstrate the presence of allies in the Baltic Sea region and conduct joint exercises with the Estonian naval forces,” the portal's report states.
According to the commander of the Estonian naval forces, Yuri Saska, joint exercises are planned to begin next week with the Estonian marine infantry. Three frigates already docked in the port came from Norway's international northern waters, where they took part in exercises named “Cold Response.” It is expected that next week, NATO ships at the terminal will be replaced by another group of alliance naval forces, Interfax reported.
