In a speech at the National Assembly, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan referred to the statements regarding the surrender of Shushi as a result of the 44-day war. He emphasized that the war was fought for Shushi.

“They say you should have stopped the war. Why didn’t we consider stopping the war? Or they say you should have prevented the war, why didn’t we think about prevention? It was impossible to stop or prevent the war without Shushi. It simply wasn’t possible. I have said this several times. And our boys who fell, may they be praised, stood for this right. They stood for the opportunity not to hand over Artsakh. And what I am talking about is not handing over Artsakh, because if we go another way, we will hand over Artsakh; the incidents in Parukh are an example, piece by piece. Let's stop deceiving each other,” emphasized Pashinyan.
