Four New Commemorative Coins Introduced into Circulation

Today, on April 14, the Central Bank of Armenia has introduced four new commemorative coins into circulation. According to the Central Bank, the newly issued coins have been presented.

The gold and silver commemorative coins are dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Armenian Armed Forces. The obverse features the coat of arms of the Republic of Armenia, while the reverse showcases a fragment of the emblem of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.

Gold Coin: Metal/Purity: Gold 9000, Issue Quantity: 400 pieces, Year of Issue: 2022, Nominal Value: 1000 AMD, Weight: 33.6 g, Diameter: 40.0 mm, Shape: Octagonal, Quality: Proof, Edge: Serrated.

Silver Coin: Metal/Purity: Silver 9250, Issue Quantity: 400 pieces, Year of Issue: 2022.

The commemorative coin dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of Yeghishe Charents showcases a depiction of the monument dedicated to Charents’ work “The Crowds Gone Mad” (sculptor: N. Nikoghosyan, architect: J. Torosyan, 1985). The reverse will feature a depiction of Charents’ monument (sculptor: Gh. Chubaryan, 1957) and his signature. The designers of the sketches are Lusine Lalayan (obverse) and Eduard Kurghinyan (reverse). The coin has been minted at the Polish Mint.

The commemorative coin dedicated to the chemical element Og (Oganesson) presents the image of the Og chemical element on the obverse and the sculptural portrait of Yuri Hovhannisyan (sculptor: Gh. Chubaryan, 1979) on the reverse. The sketch was created by Vardan Vardanyan. This coin has also been minted at the Polish Mint.
