Casualties Reported in Shootout at Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan Border
Two citizens of Kyrgyzstan have been injured during a shootout between border guards at the Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border. This was reported on Wednesday, April 13, by the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health, as reported by Izvestia.
"As a result of the incident that occurred on April 12, 2022, at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border, two injured individuals have been admitted to the Leylek Family Medicine Center," the statement said.
It was noted that the victims sustained shrapnel wounds. One of them is currently hospitalized and has already undergone primary surgical treatment; his health condition is assessed as moderate. The second individual, after receiving initial medical assistance, has been "discharged in satisfactory condition for outpatient treatment."
Reports of a conflict between the military personnel of the two countries emerged the day before. According to the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, a Tajik border guard was also injured during the shootout.
