Armenia Elected as Member of UN Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations
On April 13, during a meeting of the UN Economic and Social Council in New York, Armenia was elected as a member of the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations for the 2023-2026 period. This was reported by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As a result of a closed ballot vote, Armenia was selected in first place from the regional group of Eastern European countries, receiving votes from 47 of the 54 member states of the Economic and Social Council.
This marks the first time Armenia has joined the UN Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations. Within the framework of this membership, Armenia will contribute to the more active and substantive involvement of representatives of civil society and non-governmental organizations in processes carried out within the UN framework.
