VIDEO: 'Bring that symbol and plant it on my head' - MP from the ruling party on placing the Artsakh flag at the National Assembly podium
"Planting a flag does not protect a country; it is preserved by action," said Hakob Aslanyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract party, during a press briefing with journalists.
In response to the remark that the flag is a state symbol, Aslanyan stated, "Well, it is a symbol. Bring it and plant it on my head. Symbols belong in their designated places, not everywhere they can reach. A country is not protected by burning flags or planting flags; the person standing in front of you is someone who has risked his life for this country three times, while 90% of those flag planters have never even held a firearm and have fled. The podium of the National Assembly is not a place for flag planting; if everyone, based on their own thoughts, comes and plants something there, then what will happen? Was the podium a place for a flag?"
