Vaccine Against Rotavirus for Children Developed in Russia

Employees of the Rostov Research Institute of Microbiology and Parasitology at Rospotrebnadzor are developing a vaccine against rotavirus infection in children. This was reported by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor, as noted by Газета.

“A collection of human rotavirus strains has been created in the Russian Federation, adapted to the culture line of transplanted cells, and the possibility of preparing an inactivated vaccine has been demonstrated. This favorably distinguishes it from its foreign analog in terms of safety and immunogenic activity. Preclinical studies are expected to be conducted soon,” the report states.

The ministry also noted that the creation and production of a domestic vaccine is important for replacing imports and exporting to friendly foreign countries.
