Restrictions Imposed on Export of Certain Food Products from Belarus
The government of Belarus has imposed restrictions on the export of certain types of food products. According to the information released, products that can be exported from non-EAEU countries include:
- Flour (buckwheat, wheat) - up to 1 kg
- Cereals (buckwheat, rice, oatmeal, oat flour, corn) - up to 1 kg
- Sugar - up to 1 kg
- Salt - up to 1 kg
- Pasta - up to 1 kg
- Vegetable oil - up to 1 liter
- Meat, dairy products, and fish preserves (except for baby food preserves) - up to 3 cans
The restriction does not apply to products purchased in duty-free shops at the state border checkpoints of Belarus. At the same time, it is possible to export such products without restrictions in cases determined by regional executive committees.
The regulation has been adopted to protect the domestic market in response to the growing demand for food products in border areas, which individuals purchase from commercial lots for export outside the Republic of Belarus.
