18-Year-Old Passenger Dies in Major Car Accident in Gegharkunik Province; One of the Victims is a Soldier

A few moments ago, an 18-year-old passenger who was hospitalized following a major car accident in Gegharkunik Province today, April 11, passed away without regaining consciousness at the Vardenis Medical Center.

According to Shamshyan.com, law enforcement officials have determined that the Opel was driven by 23-year-old Mayis Poghosyan, while the ZIL 131, which was parked in the allowed area of the road and in compliance with safety regulations, was driven by 28-year-old Aram Sahakyan, a contract serviceman of the Armenian Ministry of Defense's N military unit. The Volkswagen Passat belonged to 34-year-old Gevorg Aghabekyan from Kotayk Province, who is also a contract serviceman of the same military unit.

As a result of the accident, M. Poghosyan was taken to the Gegharkunik garrison hospital with bodily injuries, while his passengers—18-year-old Raphael Gevorgyan, 24-year-old Narek Barseghyan, who is also a contract serviceman of the N military unit, and 18-year-old Zhirayr Arzoyan—were transported to the Vardenis Medical Center, where R. Gevorgyan unfortunately passed away shortly thereafter.
