Public Transport Fleet to be Augmented with 100 New Buses

In response to the high demand for 100-dram coins in urban transport, starting today, all drivers of new community buses and microbuses will carry a certain amount of change. During a regular working meeting, Elbak Tarposhyan, the director of 'Yerevan Bus' LLC, reported that the available change accounts for only 15% of daily turnover. Thus, it is essential that citizens have 100-dram coins before transitioning to a unified ticketing system.

The Yerevan Municipality is set to acquire an additional 100 new buses. Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan has tasked the preparation of a tender package for the bus purchase.

As part of the reforms in the capital's transport system, the rolling stock of 'Electrotransport' company will also be modernized. A competition for the procurement of 15 new trolleybuses will be announced soon.

Beginning May 1, several routes will be served by new buses of the 'Zhong Tong' brand. The process will be organized with the 54 units of rolling stock currently available in the bus fleet.
