Emmanuel Macron Leads in First Round of Elections in France; Second Round Expected
The current President of France, Emmanuel Macron, is leading in the first round of presidential elections, according to 85% of votes counted. He is securing 27.39% of the votes, as reported by the country's Ministry of the Interior.
Previously, after 40% of the votes were counted, Marine Le Pen, the leader of the National Rally party, was in the lead with 28.2% of the votes, while the current president had 26.15%.
It is noteworthy that polling stations in France opened on April 10 at 8:00 AM local time (10:00 AM Yerevan time). The main competition is unfolding between President Emmanuel Macron and candidate Marine Le Pen. Practice shows that the likelihood of determining a winner in the first round in this republic is extremely low. For the last 70 years, no presidential candidate has managed to achieve this.
Earlier, local media reported that according to the results of the first round of presidential elections in France, Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen are advancing to the second round.
