New Strain of Coronavirus Detected in India

A new strain of coronavirus, known as XE, has been identified in the Indian state of Gujarat in a man who had arrived from Mumbai. According to local authorities, the case was reported during a press conference.

“On March 12, during a visit to Vadodara from Santacruz in Mumbai, the man's COVID-19 test came back positive,” said the doctor. The man had traveled to Vadodara for work and stayed in a hotel. The doctor explained that when the man developed a fever, he took a Covid-19 test at a private laboratory, which yielded a positive result. After some time, the man returned to Mumbai.
