Another Painful Episode: Tigran Abrahamyan

Member of Parliament Tigran Abrahamyan from the ‘Honorary’ faction commented on the recent meeting between Prime Minister Pashinyan and President Aliyev in Brussels.

He stated that the Azerbaijani aggression prior to the meeting did not receive a tangible resolution regarding the villages of Parukh in the Askeran region and the Karaglukh mountain range. The issue has essentially shifted to the arena of Russian-Azerbaijani relations, with the main problem identified not as Azerbaijan's incursion but as the inactivity of Russian peacekeepers.

It is evident that the peacekeepers did not meet the expectations of the Armenians, failing to prevent the Azerbaijani aggression and not returning the Azerbaijani forces to their original positions. However, there is another painful episode. In fact, Pashinyan expresses a surface-level concern regarding the actions of Azerbaijani forces, showing that this is not an issue of Armenian resolution and cannot hinder Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, especially not become a priority issue.

On the other hand, Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its positions in the areas where it has invaded, making the return of Azerbaijani units to their original positions through negotiations with Russia rather blurry, if not unrealistic. This means that the situation around Karaglukh will either remain tense, with unpredictable developments, or the Armenians will be persuaded that the correct approach is to accept the created situation and the territorial losses.
