We have suffered significant troop losses, this is a great tragedy for us: This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, in an interview with Sky News.

In the interview, he noted that one of the aims of the special operation in Ukraine is to "prevent the threat of World War III." According to him, from the very beginning, Russia "never targeted civilian objects in Ukraine." In addition, he expressed hope that the special operation in Ukraine will achieve its goals in the coming days or will conclude through negotiations.

Peskov described the losses of Russian troops as "significant," stating, "We have suffered significant troop losses, this is a great tragedy for us." Commenting on the events in Mariupol and Bucha, Peskov stated that Russia has numerous witnesses to the atrocities occurring in Mariupol and Bucha, "who spoke about the horrific actions of the national battalions."

"Mariupol will be liberated from Ukrainian nationalist battalions. Russia hopes that this will happen in the near future," he said.

Regarding sanctions, Peskov remarked that Russia began preparing for Western sanctions a year ago.
