No Food Product Deficit Expected in Armenia in the Near Future: Ministry of Economy

No deficit of food products is expected in Armenia. This was stated by the press service of the Ministry of Economy in response to a written inquiry from NEWS.am.

According to the ministry, the trade between Armenia and Ukraine has effectively halted due to the Russo-Ukrainian war. Unfavorable weather conditions and the accumulation of trucks at the Upper Lars checkpoint have slowed down the pace of trade. Additionally, the reduction in trade volume is also associated with caution stemming from the sharp depreciation of the Russian currency, which has raised concerns about the prices offered by suppliers.

When asked about Armenia's food security situation and the possibility of a deficit for certain types of products, the ministry assured that relevant analyses have been conducted and the risks of potential deficits have been evaluated. Therefore, according to the Ministry of Economy, there is no threat of deficit, nor is it expected in the near future.
