United Kingdom to Ban Russian Steel and Coal Imports and Restrict Energy Equipment Exports

The UK authorities have imposed sanctions against the import of Russian ferrous metallurgy products and are also planning to stop coal imports from Russia by the end of the year.

The measures against Russia's key strategic industries and state enterprises include a ban on the import of iron and steel products, which are a major source of revenue.

The UK will "end all reliance on Russian coal and oil by the end of 2022," as well as "stop importing gas as soon as possible," according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Additionally, the export of key oil refining equipment and catalysts will also be prohibited, which will reduce Russia's capabilities to extract and export oil, the agency reports.
