Former Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan wrote on his Facebook page: "These maps were found on Azerbaijani soldiers during the 44-day war. They are pocket military books. It is clear that a significant part of Armenia (Syunik, Gegharkunik, etc.) is depicted as historical Azerbaijan, with blatant fabrications of historical facts. Even 'Azerbaijani place names' are indicated.

For example: 'When the Russian Empire collapsed, the territory of Azerbaijan was 130,000 square kilometers; from 1918 to 1920, the territory of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan was 114,000 square kilometers. During the Soviet period, Russia was given 10,900 square kilometers (including the Derbent Khanate, 7,000 square kilometers), and to Armenians (up until 1923, the regions of Zangezur, Yeghenadzor, Sevan, Dilijan, border villages, 40 square kilometers as of 1946, 7.6 square kilometers from Tovuz, approximately 50 square kilometers from Kazakh) was given 10.9 thousand square kilometers. Georgia was given 9.5 thousand square kilometers, meaning at various times 27.4 thousand square kilometers. Of the remaining 86.6 thousand square kilometers, 13.110 square kilometers are still occupied.' This implies they came to 'liberate' all of this.

The books also contain expressions that fuel deep-rooted hatred towards Armenians, with blatant lies about our homeland: 'this land is mine, yours, ours,' 'a dignified citizen should not tolerate the defilement of symbols,' 'symbols should be preserved like the honor of the country, respect, and dignity,' 'all symbols are sacred,' and so on. This is propaganda from the Azerbaijani authorities, a years-long policy that has created an institutional system of ethnic and religious hatred towards Armenians, passed down through generations. These are the main reasons for Azerbaijan's wartime crimes and crimes against humanity throughout history."
