Former Pentagon Adviser Reveals Biden's Biggest Mistake
Douglas Macgregor, a former adviser to the Secretary of Defense during the administration of former President Donald Trump, believes that the desire to push NATO towards Russia's western borders at the expense of Ukraine may be the biggest mistake of the current American leadership in foreign policy. Macgregor discussed this in an article for The American Conservative, as reported by Газета.
The expert argues that American authorities have learned nothing and "remembered nothing," noting that President Joe Biden and the bipartisan leadership are restoring a strategic situation "that Washington feared in 1940." The author highlights that Western media constantly disseminate an unfavorable image of Russian leaders and the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
However, their silence regarding NATO's expansion eastward at Ukraine's expense does not alter the strategic reality. "American voters instinctively know that Americans have nothing to gain from a war with Russia, declared or undeclared. A short trip to almost any supermarket or gas station in the United States explains why," writes Macgregor.
He also stated that being close to Ukraine gives Moscow unlimited access to reserves of military power, equipment, and firepower capabilities.
