This Day Can Mark the Beginning of a Long, Difficult, but Important Path: Karen Vrtanesyan

This day can mark the beginning of a long, difficult, but important path that will lead us to the day when Armenia stands upright again. This was stated by military expert Karen Vrtanesyan on Facebook.

He specifically wrote:

“I have seen various opinions about whether to go to the rally or not. Below is my opinion, as well as how a rally can be used in the context of creating a national coordinating body.

A. It is very important to understand the purpose of the rally. Let me disappoint those who think that they will go to the rally, illuminate the Opera Square at night, and greet the dawn in a liberated Armenia from the occupation regime... If only everything was that easy.

However, this protest rally has important and achievable objectives. What are they?

1) To send a message to both our public and the international community that Nikol does not have a mandate to give anything away, that Nikol does not represent Armenian interests. We must constantly emphasize that Nikol is not the Armenian people. Naturally, this message is clear for most readers of this text, but it must be repeated every day outside our narrow circle, especially directed towards the international community. [For this purpose, my friends and I will come with posters in English and Armenian today, and I ask you to spread their photos on social networks as much as possible].

2) To bring back the topic of recognizing Artsakh [We will have a 'RECOGNIZE ARTSAKH!' poster]. My friends and I will be present at the rally to voice these messages, not to support or oppose any political force.

B. This is also a good opportunity to meet each other, discuss our call to create a national coordinating body, get to know each other, ask questions, and try to answer them.

In recent days, I have been meeting people constantly, and the initial distrust I observed has begun to transform, albeit cautiously, into a willingness to act. So let’s come, get acquainted, and discuss.

This day can mark the beginning of a long, difficult, but important path that will lead us to the day when Armenia stands upright again,” Vrtanesyan wrote.
