Pentagon Confirms Hypersonic Missile Test and Announces Collaboration with the UK and Australia

The United States has successfully tested a Lockheed Martin hypersonic missile, as reported by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. According to sources from the Financial Times (FT), Joe Biden is expected to announce plans for defense collaboration between the US, the UK, and Australia aimed at developing hypersonic weapons.

“Our goal is not only to outpace our rivals but to stay far ahead of them, ensuring they cannot catch up for a long time,” the Pentagon director stated while commenting on the tests. His remarks are quoted in the announcement.

Earlier, CNN, citing a Pentagon source, reported that the US conducted a secret hypersonic missile test in mid-March. According to CNN, the test had not been officially announced to avoid escalating tensions with Russia.
