Former Minister and Environmentalist Karine Danielyan Passes Away
Former Minister of Environmental Protection of Armenia, Karine Danielyan, has passed away. This was announced on her Facebook page by her daughter, Lilit Ohanyan.
Danielyan, an environmental activist, president of the "For Sustainable Human Development" Association, candidate of biological sciences, doctor of geographical sciences, member of the International Ecological Academy, and honorary citizen of Yerevan, authored approximately 270 scientific articles and monographs.
She served as the Minister of Environmental Protection from 1991 to 1994, worked at Yerevan State University from 1995 to 2013 (first as an associate professor, then as a professor), and has been a national consultant for the UNDP, UNEP, and UNICEF since 1995. From 2012 onwards, she has been the head of the Department of Ecology and Sustainable Development at Khachatur Abovian Armenian State Pedagogical University.
