Who is the new deputy governor of Syunik?

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has appointed 38-year-old Hayk Harutyunyan as the new deputy governor of Syunik.

According to Aravot.am, he is not a newcomer to the provincial administration. He has been working at the Syunik Regional Administration for the past 8 years, serving as the head of the education department in the administration's department of education, culture, and sport.

Hayk is a graduate of Yerevan State University with a degree in computer science and applied mathematics. He has worked at Yeghvard Secondary School as a mathematics and physics teacher and then as the deputy principal for academic affairs. He is married and has three children.

In the community council elections held in Kapan on November 14, 2021, Hayk Harutyunyan was in the 4th position on the electoral list of the ‘Civil Contract’ party. He submitted a resignation request along with Davit Danielyan, the head of the list and a member of the National Assembly.
