Instead of a Pension, a Janitor Job: A Murderer Transferred from Artsakh to Baku Complains about Not Receiving Veteran Status

Instead of a pension, a janitor job has been offered: Shahbaz Guliyev, who was convicted of several serious crimes, including murder in Artsakh, has made a protest in Baku, lamenting his life, according to Azerbaijani media.

The convict Guliyev is upset that he has not been able to receive disability benefits and veteran status, while the employment service has suggested he take a job in sanitation, for which he would be paid 160 manats (around 50,000 drams).

During his attempt to hold a protest, Azerbaijani police detained him but later released him.

It should be noted that in Artsakh, Guliyev was sentenced to 22 years in prison after being found guilty of espionage, illegal border crossing, possession of military munitions, kidnapping, and murder. Guliyev was transferred to Azerbaijan on December 14, 2020, after being held for six years, following the decision to exchange prisoners all for all after the 44-day war.
