Gas Prices Increase in Armenia

Gas prices in Armenia have increased as of today, following a decision made by the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia. The decision to raise gas tariffs, announced a month ago on March 1, takes effect today, April 1.

According to the approved rates, the price for regular consumers in Armenia will rise by 4.7 drams, from 139 drams to 143.7 drams. Exceptionally, socially vulnerable consumers will not see a change in their gas prices, thanks to government subsidies. They will continue to pay 100 drams per cubic meter.

Farmers in the agriculture sector, particularly those operating greenhouse farms, will also enjoy certain subsidies, including seasonal discounts. During the heating season, from November 1 to March 31, they will pay the equivalent of 233.9 USD for 1,000 cubic meters (approximately 114 drams per cubic meter at the current exchange rate). For the remaining months of the year, they will pay the same rate as regular consumers, 143.7 drams per cubic meter.

For agricultural processing companies engaged in the production of canned goods, beverages, and dairy products, the gas tariff will remain unchanged throughout the year at the equivalent of 233.9 USD for 1,000 cubic meters (about 114 drams).

Other businesses in Armenia, including power plants, will pay the set tariff for up to 10,000 cubic meters of natural gas, which is 143.7 drams. For consumption exceeding 10,000 cubic meters, each additional 1,000 cubic meters will cost 265.81 USD (approximately 130 drams).

It should be noted that the timing for reviewing gas tariffs has been set for April 1 each year, based on the understanding that the heating season ends in Armenia during this month. However, this year, the weather has not complied with consumers' needs.
