Dairy Prices May Rise: 'Joghourt'

'Joghourt' newspaper reports: 'The volumes of dairy production in Armenia decreased in January of this year. According to the data from the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, the production volume of cheese dropped by 4.3%, sour cream by 10.7%, yogurt by 7.1%, and cottage cheese by 9.4%. Furthermore, the volume of milk production in January this year compared to December of last year decreased by 21.5%.

Experts state that the decline in dairy production is due not only to reduced milk yield but also to a decrease in livestock numbers. Additionally, it should be noted that Armenia imports powdered milk, including condensed or sweetened milk and cream. The main suppliers are Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Iran, Poland, and Argentina. However, considering the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war, it is possible that the volumes of imported powdered milk may significantly decrease, which will likely lead to a rise in dairy product prices.'
