From Hero's Title to Imprisonment: The Series Could Go On, Says 'Zhoghovurd'
‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper reports: ‘Nikol Pashinyan’s government excels in the art of turning its loyalists from heroes (in the truest sense of the word) into anti-heroes. The Minister of Emergency Situations, Andranik Piloyan, received the title of Major General of the RA Armed Forces and the title of National Hero of Armenia from Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and was also arrested during his tenure. Law enforcement accuses him of engaging in corrupt deals and more.
Before Piloyan, Tiran Khachatryan, who had received the title of hero after openly mocking Pashinyan’s remark that ‘Iskander fired at 10 percent effectiveness,’ faced a similar fate. Interestingly, he had taken it upon himself to justify the loss of part of the Sotk mine to save the face of the government.
The list of individuals who have received high-ranking titles from Pashinyan and then faced the same fate is long. Those who were exhilarated by the titles conferred by Pashinyan should pause for a moment to reflect and remember the case surrounding Artsakh hero Manvel Grigoryan. After the political reshuffle in 2018, Grigoryan was one of the first among the former Republican Party lawmakers to shake hands with Nikol Pashinyan, yet this did not prevent Pashinyan’s government from morally and physically vilifying Grigoryan until the very end over unproven accusations of being ‘a canned meat.’
