Depardieu, a Russian Citizen, Criticizes Putin's 'Crazy' Invasion of Ukraine; Peskov Responds to the Actor
French actor Gérard Depardieu, who became a Russian citizen in 2013, is now criticizing the Russian president. This was reported by Le Figaro. Depardieu called Russia's military operations in Ukraine a ‘crazy and unacceptable excess’ by Putin. At the same time, he emphasized that the Russian people are not responsible for the unacceptable actions of their leaders.
Depardieu also stated that all proceeds from three concerts scheduled for early April in Paris will be donated to support Ukrainians affected by the war.
According to TASS, Russian President Vladimir Putin's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, commented on the actor’s statements regarding the Russian special operation in Ukraine, noting that Depardieu doesn't quite understand what has been happening in Ukraine in recent years. If the actor wishes, the Kremlin is ready to provide him with the necessary explanations.
“Since the president is mentioned, I assume that Depardieu probably does not fully understand what is happening. If necessary, we will be ready to tell him all this and explain it so that he can understand better,” said the Kremlin spokesman.
