Appeal Against Detention of Andranik Piloyan to Be Filed
The Minister of Emergency Situations Andranik Piloyan will have an appeal filed against his detention. This was stated by Piloyan's lawyer, Tigran Sargsyan, in a conversation with Armenpress. “We have received the first-instance court's decision, and we need to appeal it,” said Sargsyan.
According to the Anti-Corruption Committee, numerous instances of alleged criminal activities have been recorded during the investigation of the criminal case, involving Minister of Emergency Situations Andranik Piloyan, his advisor, as well as more than 10 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, including heads of various divisions.
Specifically, the preliminary investigation has revealed that Minister A. Piloyan, with the assistance of his advisor A. H., received a large bribe in 2022 for actions carried out within his authority in favor of a private company cooperating with the ministry.
Minister of Emergency Situations A. Piloyan has been charged under the third part of Article 311 of the RA Criminal Code (3rd point /3 episodes/). According to the investigator's decision, he was arrested on March 30, 2022. On the same day, a motion was filed in the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court to choose detention as a preventive measure against him. The Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court granted the detention motion. He has been transferred to the “Yerevan-Center” Penitentiary Institution.
