Ukraine Has Agreed to Russia's Fundamental Demands: Medinsky
Ukraine has essentially agreed to Russia's fundamental demands, which include not joining NATO and refraining from deploying foreign military bases. This statement was made by the head of the Russian delegation, assistant to the president of Russia, Vladimir Medinsky, as reported by RIA Novosti.
He emphasized that Ukraine has put on paper the principles of a possible agreement, which stipulate a refusal to join NATO, the formalization of Ukraine's non-aligned status, the rejection of nuclear weapons, as well as the dismissal of other types of weapons of mass destruction, and the non-deployment of foreign military bases and contingents.
“In other words, Ukraine has declared its readiness to fulfill the fundamental demands that Russia has insisted upon in recent years,” Medinsky said during a broadcast on the “Russia 24” television channel.
