Education for Students Arriving in Armenia Due to the Russia-Ukraine War to Be Organized in Specified Schools
The process of including students in general education is carried out in accordance with the order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, dated November 24, 2010, N1640-N, approved by the "Procedure for the Inclusion of School-Age Children in General Education, Organization of Education for Children Admitted Late to General Education, and the Procedure for Transferring and Exempting a Student from a General Educational Institution." This was reported by the press service of the Yerevan City Hall.
According to this procedure, foreign citizens, dual citizens, individuals without citizenship of the Republic of Armenia, and cases where one parent is a citizen of the Republic of Armenia and the other is one of the specified categories can independently choose the language of instruction for their child. In other cases, when both parents are citizens of the Republic of Armenia, the language of instruction is Armenian.
Children of citizens of the Republic of Armenia who have studied in foreign language instruction institutions (classes) in other countries for grades 1-4 will continue their studies in the corresponding classes with Armenian language instruction upon returning to Armenia, according to an individual education plan. Children of citizens of the Republic of Armenia who have studied in foreign language instruction institutions (classes) for at least 5 consecutive years in other countries can continue their education in corresponding classes with foreign language instruction upon returning to Armenia, provided that such classes are available.
In the schools under Yerevan City Hall, education in Russian is provided at schools No. 7, 8, 55 in the Kentron administrative district, No. 35 in Erebuni, No. 69 in Shengavit, No. 77 in Arabkir, No. 122 in Ajapnyak, No. 124 in Avan, No. 132 in Arabkir, No. 147 in Kanaker-Zeytun, No. 164 in Nor Nork, No. 176 in Malatia-Sebastia, and No. 192 in Davtashen, where classes with Russian language instruction are available. Recently, a total of 34 students from the Russian Federation, Ukraine, and Belarus have been enrolled in schools No. 7, 20, 35, 69, 77, 78, 106, 124, 132, 138, and 164. Specifically, the education of 30 students is organized in classes with Russian language instruction, while 4 students are in classes with Armenian language instruction.
The admission of students to schools is organized with a priority on ensuring continuity of education and the best interests of the child, providing an adapted environment and necessary support to meet the educational needs of the enrolled students.
